On May 12th, a powerful earthquake measuring 8.0 on
the Richter scale jolted Sichuan province in southwestern China, claiming
over 50,000 lives.
For the past 3 months, our international film crew has been shooting
in the mountains of Wolong, home to the Wild Giant Panda when the
earthquake struck. Thankfully, our crews of 28, including 1 American
producer and 1 HKSAR editor, have all safely returned home with
the help from both the Chinese government and local citizens.
working and living together with the people of the Panda preserve
and the pandas for more than three months, we have developed a bond
of friendship and respect with nearly every member of this amazing
team of people, working year around to ensure the revival of the
panda species. Sadly, we have learned that 2 pandas are missing
and 5 dedicated members of the Wolong Preserve perished while protecting
the animals. We feel it is our duty to do anything we can to help
the Wolong preserve, its people and the pandas in any way we can.
We are working with the International Red Cross, including the
Red Cross Society of China to assist those affected by this disaster.
Your donation will support emergency relief efforts to help those
affected by this earthquake. Assitance provided may include sending
relief supplies and providing financial resources for food and shelter.
